Once a clear policy is in place, training is the key to incident reduction. For most drivers, it is a challenge to keep a clear, cool head when responding to an emergency. The strong desire to help creates the urgency that increases speed and the sound of the sirens raise the adrenaline level making it difficult to follow policy. Training provides valuable tools to resist the urge to hurry and to reach the destination safely.
